The Wilson Cheltenham Art Gallery
The Wilson Art Gallery had an amazing exhibition ‘The Art Of Selling Music’ featuring JPDL and Yogi beats new album artwork along side the video i made for the album.
Had a great opening night with a live DJ battle and a performance of the full album along side their features.
I got stopped by BBC radio Gloucestershire for an interview about my work and have been invited to come and talk on the show!
JPDL x Yogi Beats
JPDL and YOGI beats came to me with a great idea to make a 10 minute project highlighting their up and coming self titled album, featuring 1-2 minutes of each song on the album alongside a visual. This style of video is unique and not really explored before maintaining a fast and interesting pace with locations and songs changing constantly along side filming and editing styles.

The Ghost Village Uncovered
In 1887, the town of Bussana Vecchia in Liguria, Italy was abandoned as an earthquake ripped through the village. For years, the town stood empty - a ghost town - ravaged only by the elements and time, until in the 1960s, a group of artists began squatting and a thriving community was born.
Bussana Vecchia is now known as the International Artists Village and is now not only an artists paradise but also a thriving tourist destination.
As students, we have decided to travel to Bussana Vecchia to film a documentary preserving the village now and have arranged several interviews with local artists telling their side of the story.
Can you help fund our dream? We have a car, 5 friends and a lot of passion to tell an amazing story.

Japan Diaries - Formento Formento a critical review
I have chosen Formento Formento’s Japan diaries as an example of work that has inspired and influenced my work dramatically. Their cinematic work inspires me because of the lighting and techniques used to add drama and capture a mood.
Formento Formento uses a very basic set up with a camera and two studios lights but they take the equipment out of its normal studio location. They have a very specific shooting style making the model almost doll-like and giving their images a very dark visual effect. They achieve this by using a large F-stop and fast shutter speed plus a high MD filter to use a slower shutter speed to sink with the light. This lighting technique is very personalised to their work and creates their distinctive and intimate style.
In the image above, the first major light illuminates the model so she is visible creating a dramatic shadow across her face amplifying the drama. A narrow light is used for control and to ensure the surroundings aren’t polluted. Another light is placed behind the model to create a rim light making her stand out from the background and adding to the doll effect, making her look somewhat fake. Even though the background is dark and seems somewhat obsolescent, the background plays a huge role in setting the scene and complements the model extremely well.
I particular like the way the image enables the viewer to make their own connection with the female subject. The relationship with Japan is clear to see and the direct mode of address makes for an intimate relationship with the viewer. Her pose is one that mixes seduction, curiosity and dominance.
Formento Formento’s work and style has influenced the way I plan to shoot my final A2 photography project. I will use this dramatic lighting technique to complement the horror theme I am portraying, as I want to make the model the key focus. Their work has also influenced my chosen location, (a disused building on derelict land). Previously I have worked using a studio set up within a studio to control my lighting. Now however I am keen to replicate the look and feel of Formento Formento, and will be using two speed lights on location, which will give me the visual effect and clarity of the studio but within a more interesting backdrop to provide the raw and gritty effect I am seeking. This I believe will add character and help tell the story and this is what I have learnt from their work.
